Summer is here, and whether you’re taking classes, working on campus, or exploring the Inland Empire, UCR Transportation & Parking Services (TAPS) has you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about getting around this summer sustainably.

Your RTA U-Pass Still Works All Summer

Good news; your free RTA U-Pass doesn’t take a summer vacation! The pass is valid year-round, so you can keep riding RTA buses at no cost throughout the summer months.

Undergrad students: You can continue using your U-Pass this summer if you are registered for fall quarter or are taking summer classes. It’s a great way to save on transportation while staying connected to campus and the community.

What Bus Routes Are Running?

Heads up on a couple of UCR route changes during the summer session:

  • Route 51 (Crest Cruiser) - This route, which loops outside campus through Canyon Crest, runs during the academic year only. It wrapped up service on June 12th and will return for fall quarter on September 21, 2026.
  • Route 56 (Hunter Park Metrolink to UCR) - This route runs all summer long! It connects the Hunter Park/UCR Metrolink Station directly to campus and travels within the center of campus, making it a reliable option throughout the break.

RTA Summer Fare Promotion: Just 25 Cents!

Planning some local adventures this summer? RTA is making it easier than ever to explore the Riverside area with their Summer Fare Promotion; just 25 cents per boarding for everyone through August 31, 2026.  That’s an unbeatable price for bringing the whole family along. Whether it’s a trip to the farmer’s market, a local event, or just getting around town, this is a great opportunity to ditch the car and ride together.

Explore SoCal with Metrolink

Want to venture beyond Riverside this summer? Metrolink’s SoCal Day Pass is your ticket to the region:

  • Weekends: Only $10
  • Weekdays: Just $15
  • Ticket includes unlimited Metrolink travel for one day plus free transfers to LA Metro Rail and buses

One exciting addition this summer is that Metrolink now connects to the new D Line, which drops you right at Miracle Mile in Los Angeles; home to world-class museums, galleries, and dining. It’s the perfect summer day trip!

Register Your Bike or Scooter - It’s Free!

Riding a bike or scooter to campus? TAPS is continuing to offer free bike and scooter registration all summer long.

Registering your ride helps us identify your property in the event it is lost, stolen, recovered, or impounded. It only takes a few minutes, and it’s completely free. Stop by or register online.
