Community Parking Program
UCR is committed to a culture of engagement and has identified community connection as a core pillar of the campus Strategic Plan. In support of this commitment, the Community Parking Program was created to welcome the public to campus and encourage participation in UCR’s academic, cultural, student, and outreach events. To further support community access, central campus funding is available to provide complimentary parking for community visitors attending events that are free and open to the campus and general public.
Program Overview
The Community Parking Program is intended to remove parking costs to encourage community participation. It provides complimentary general parking for community members attending eligible UCR events that are free and open to the public. Events that qualify may receive the following:
- Designate parking lot for general parking
- Provide unique URL to complimentary virtual parking permits
- Provide standard event signage to direct guests to general parking (add pic of standard vs custom signage)
Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify, events must fall into one of the following categories:
- Colloquia, symposia, and lectures
- Student recruitment and outreach programs
- Cultural and public service events and gatherings
Furthermore, the event must engage the public by meeting the additional requirements.
- The event must be free to participate.
- There is no registration requirement
- The general public may freely walk in and participate
- Efforts are made to encourage community attendance, including posting the event on the UCR Events Calendar
Once eligibility is verified, guests who park in the designated event parking locations will be able to park using a complimentary virtual parking permit.
Planning Requirements
Event planners who wish to qualify for the Community Parking Program should submit an Event Parking Service Request at least 15 business days prior to event to qualify for all services.
Event Parking will following within 5 business days on your eligibility. Should your event not qualify, Event Parking will quote you on services.
Sponsor Responsibilities
While the CPP cover general parking and standard signage, the event sponsor remains responsible for any additional parking related services, including:
- Non-general parking (ex. vendors or VIP parking)
- Space reservations
- Custom Signage
- Traffic control
- Parking attendants
- Late or cancellations fees
Based on the size and characteristics of the event, certain services may be required to ensure the event reflects positively on the campus and provides a smooth experience for guests.
