Campus Access Changes

In October, Housing Services completed the relocation of family housing residents from their prior homes in Crest Housing to the campus’ new family housing in the Oban apartment complex.  Maintenance of the Crest Housing site has ended and all support services have been removed from the property.  As a result of the building maintenance and landscape services ending and to prevent vandalism and vagrancy, the site is being fenced to prevent entry.  The fencing will be completed on Friday November 17th.

As a result of this closure, publicly accessible parking will no longer be available in Crest Housing.  Campus parking permit holders will need to utilize parking lots available to them with their current parking permit.  Transportation Services will continue to provide access to Parking Lot 27.  Parking Lot 27 is located on Linden St. and provides 90 minute parking for users of the Student Recreation Center.  Access and parking for KUCR, the campus’ radio station, will continue to be available from Linden St.

Individuals with questions about parking options in the area should contact Transportation Services at (951) 827-8277.

Donations for Citations

Transportation Services is holding a "Donations for Citations" event November 27-December 15, 2017  that will allow community members the opportunity to donate food in exchange for a credit of up to $20 towards a UCR parking citation. Donations will be given to the R'Pantry to assist UCR students. Please see the "Donations for Citations" flyer for rules and details.

Fall 2017 Parking Changes

Welcome back! Many changes to the parking lots have taken place over the summer.  We want to ensure your parking experience is pleasant so please familiarize yourself with the attached changes.

Free Parking at Hunter Park Metrolink Station

The Riverside Hunter Park/UCR Station is an official county sponsored Park & Ride lot and offers complimentary parking for commuters.  The station is located at 1101 Marlborough Avenue, Riverside.  From there you can take RTA Route 52 directly to campus.  Bus service begins at 5:10am and the last bus back from UCR is at 7:30pm.  Buses run approximately every 30-40 minutes.  The P2P shuttle will take students back to the Hunter Park Metrolink Station in the evenings between 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm.

2017/ 2018 Campus Apartments / Residence Hall Parking Permits for Returning Students

Campus Apartment (Bannockburn, Falkirk, Glen Mor and University Plaza) parking permits and Residence Hall parking permits for the 2017/2018 school year for returning students are available for purchase at the Parking Services office. Parking Services is located at 683 Linden Street. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Campus Apartment / Residence Hall parking permits are available on a first come, first served basis - quantities are limited.

Incoming Freshman Resident Parking Information

Due to limited parking availability on campus, freshman residents should plan on NOT bringing a vehicle to campus with them.  Campus parking permits will only be issued to students who seek an exemption from Transportation Services based on a documented, compelling need for campus parking.  Residents will be sent information regarding the exemption process when they are notified of their housing assignment in September.

Campus housing for freshmen offers an all-inclusive package designed specifically to complement the student’s academic pursuits by addressing student lifestyle needs. Consequently, it has been our experience that freshman residents do not need a vehicle during their first year.  And if students do have a need to explore off campus, there are many ways for students without cars to get around, including: short-term car rental (Zipcar); bike sharing (Zagster); ride matching (Zimride); unlimited free rides on the RTA’s local and long-distance routes (U-Pass); and direct bus service to Metrolink’s Hunter Park station.  For more details about alternative transportation at UCR, visit Transportation Services’ “Alternative Transportation” web page http://parking.ucr.edu/at/.
